Refugee Team Testimony: Welcoming the Stranger – Part 1

We at Grace continue to find ways to assist and encourage our new refugee neighbors who come to Wichita under the auspices of the International Rescue Committee, IRC.

This winter some of the warm coats you donated to Economy Corner could be helping keep a new neighbor from Africa warm. At Christmas time, many generous Wichitans bought gifts for individual refugee families.

Women’s Ministry

We have a new Women’s Ministry at Grace, and all women are invited. This ministry encompasses different aspects of life at Grace including: a book group, fellowship events, service, and retreats. Calling All Quilters

Are you a quilter?  Are you interested in making quilts to donate?  The Mission Distribution Team designated funds to help pay for quilting supplies.  Initially the quilts will go to the International Rescue Committee for new refugee families in Wichita.  In time the quilts might go to other organizations.  If you’re interested in participating in this project contact Esther Cummins, 295-3100, or Catherine Neelly Burton, 684-5215.

FINAL Laundry Love: March 12

In March of 2015 we began Laundry Love with a $5000 grant from the Presbytery of Southern Kansas. This grant allowed us to wash clothes for approximately 500 people over 2 years.  With an average of 3 loads per person, that’s 1500 loads of laundry. The grant also paid for detergent and the occasional snacks for our guests.

Dear Grace Community,

I’m writing with some medical lingo: DNA, fasting, and well checks.
