The church is a family, a community, a flock of sheep, etc. There are a lot of metaphors to describe the church.  Metaphors are helpful, and of course, all fall short. The metaphor I use the most in talking about church is that of the body.

Bus Tickets and Morning Worship: April 14

Each month Grace distributes bus tickets to people in our community. This happens on the 15th of the month, or if the 15th is a weekend we meet the Friday before. Volunteers and those receiving tickets begin to gather around 6:30 am in the Grace alcove. Guests are greeted with smiles, coffee, water, and a place to sit. Tickets are distributed at 7:50 am.

Mission Spotlight: April 2017

Four groups – S&S Men, Grace Gals, Windjammers and Young Adults – provided meals and fellowship for the Wichita Circles Network program at East Heights Methodist Church in the last few months. They were supported by a $500 Presbytery of Southern Kansas mission grant matched by a $500 gift from Economy Corner. Residual money from the gifts was donated to the East Heights Circles effort.

Yellow Bag Sundays – April 2017

Each month on the first Sunday you’re encouraged to take home a re-usable yellow grocery bag, put some non-perishable items in it, and bring it back the next week, or soon thereafter. Our contributions this month go the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church food pantry.  Thank you for your generous contributions of health and beauty aids for the International Rescue Committee last month.

Holy Week Worship

Holy week begins on Palm Sunday, April 9. On this day we celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, and we prepare for the long hard week ahead. The scripture foreshadows the betrayal that is to come.

On Thursday, April 13, we gather at 6:30 pm in the Grace Great Room for Maundy Thursday Worship. The Drama Team presents The Living Last Supper, and we celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
