Youth Serving at Botanica

Youth Serving at Botanica

On Wednesday, June 3, our Middle High youth spent the morning serving at Botanica.

They were assisted by some high school leaders and a fantastic group of adults. Together, the 20 youth spent the morning weeding and mulching. After their hard work, they enjoyed an afternoon movie.

Children’s Ministry Update

By Jennifer Snook

I love everything about summer. I love the longer days and the summer dinner menus. I love the heat and the change in routine.

Grow Together Cards

Grace Kids Sunday School also enjoys a change in routine. Sunday, May 31, is the last Sunday of our official Sunday School curriculum. For the month of June, find family “Grow Together” cards on the tables at the 9 am service and in the resource slots by the office.

The home is the primary place our children receive their Christian education. The “Grow Together” cards are meant to aid parents and caregivers so they can incorporate the learning of their faith in their homes. Our family has done something like this for several years, and we select Sunday late afternoons to connect with one another and talk about God’s Word in one way or another.

I would love to hear how the “Grow Together” cards work for you and your family. Please email me your hits and misses at jennifer@mygpc.org.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is just around the corner.

Please register online or pick up a paper registration from the main office. All those helping with VBS are encouraged to attend a training meeting scheduled for Friday, June 5, from 10 am-noon.

Student ambassadors meet their crew leaders, and we talk about how we as a team we’ll make VBS something special for the youngest Christians in our midst.

If you have not signed up to help with VBS and would like to, please come to the training meeting on Friday, June 5, in the Parlor. Three slots have been filled for our VBS decorating and tear down days. We need many hands to make this event happen so stop by the VBS bulletin board just outside the Great Room and consider signing up to help for an hour. Pizza is served at both dates since they are happening over the lunch hour.

Entz Peach Orchard Excursion

Families mark your calendars for Monday, July 13. We are carpooling from Grace to the Entz Peach Orchard in Whitewater. The orchard is about 25 minutes away, and the kids can pick as many peaches as you have room to haul. More about this special outing to come. If you don’t have young children and would like to go to the orchard, you are welcome to join us.

Sermon Preview

Sermon Preview

Interested in having some fun with scripture? If so, join Pastor Catherine Neelly Burton for sermon preview this month. All are welcome to join in an hour of reading and exploring the sermon scripture for the upcoming Sunday. We meet on Tuesdays, June 16, 23, and 30 at noon.

You don’t have to be a Bible scholar, or know much about the Bible at all. Fresh eyes are always welcome. This isn’t about what you know but about what we can learn.

If you want to read the texts ahead of time, here’s what you need to know:

  • Tuesday, June 16 – Philippians 2:1-13
  • Tuesday, June 23 – Romans 12:9-21
  • Tuesday, June 30 – 1 Peter chapters 1-2
FoodTrucks

Food Trucks: Wednesday, June 17

Hungry? Interested in trying some local cuisine? Stop by the Grace parking lot off of Douglas Avenue on Wednesday, June 17, from 5:30-7 pm. Three local food trucks will be setup, and you get to decide where to buy your dinner.

The trucks are:

  • The Flying Stove
  • Funky Monkey Munchies
  • Let’m Eat Brats.

We’ll have tables set up outside and in the church great room. Bring a friend and enjoy some food and fellowship.
