Church Information

Each month Grace distributes bus tickets to people in our community.  This happens on the 15^th of the month, or if the 15^th is on a weekend we meet the Friday before.  Volunteers and those receiving tickets begin to gather around 6:30 am in the Grace Alcove. Guests are greeted with smiles, coffee, water, and a place to sit. Tickets are distributed at 7:50 am.

With leftovers from a rummage sale in 1960, First Presbyterian Church of Wichita started Economy Corner Thrift Store. Grace Presbyterian joined the operation in 1962.

Each Monday morning at Grace approximately eight to 10 volunteers price items that have been donated. Items that come from Grace are separated out when sold. Grace receives 45% of the items selling price Fifty-five percent stays with First Presbyterian to pay for utilities, building maintenance, and staff. Each month on the first Sunday you’re encouraged to take home a re-usable yellow grocery bag, put some non-perishable items in it, and bring it back the next week, or soon thereafter.  In June our contributions go to the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church food pantry.  All non-perishable food items are welcome, or consider bringing toilet paper.

In April we completed our 20^th year of the Grace Tutoring Ministry. This ministry partners adults with students from Hyde Elementary School to work on reading skills. A staff member from Hyde walks the children over on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Here they are greeted with a snack and friendly faces. Then, each child spends 45 minutes to an hour reading with an adult. Again this year our students made incredible strides in their reading.

It’s time to say ‘Thank you!’  Thank you for generously giving your time at Grace. Each spring we celebrate Grace Volunteers with a dinner.  The church provides meat, and we ask you to bring a side or dessert to share.  Dinner is at 6 pm on Wednesday, May 30. There is no formal program, but there are door prizes.
