January is Human Trafficking Awareness month. The Wichita State University Center for Combating Human Trafficking hosts events during the last week of the month that are free and open to the public.

In January we ordain and install new officers, which means we say goodbye to men and women who have served faithfully. From the Session we bid farewell to Fred Heismeyer, Maggie McIntire, Betsy Ross, and Bill Vavra. Leaving the deacons are Bert Barrett, Hugh Ekengren, Bruce Gealy, and Lois Hubbard. Completing terms on the Board of Trustees are Joyce Heismeyer, Laurie Mulford, and Randy Routsong.

We say thank you to Bob Ross who completes a year serving as our church treasurer.

It’s time for our monthly Laundry Love!

This is when we go to College Town Laundry at 3223 E 17th St, by the WSU Campus, and pay for laundry for people. This is a mission of our evangelism team, and we’d love for you to join us. We’ll be there from 2:30 – 5:30 pm on Sunday, January 10. Want to know more? Contact Catherine Neelly Burton, email or 684-5215.

Each month on the first Sunday, you’re encouraged to take home a re-usable yellow grocery bag, put some non-perishable items in it, and bring it back the next week, or soon thereafter. This month our contributions go to the food pantry at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church. Consider bringing proteins such as peanut butter, beans, chili, etc.
