July has flown by, and we are approaching August. Back to school. You might be happy about it, but I realize that soon I won’t be able to wear lounge clothes around the house all day. Okay, I am excited about school. There, I said it.
Our first day of Sunday school is August 13. I would love it if all parents, children, and volunteers could attend that day so we may spend some time establishing hopes and expectations for the year.
If your family is not able to attend, that is completely understandable. It’s my understanding that attendance was flexible last year, and I can completely understand. What is most important is that your children and your family know that you belong, even if you’re not always at Grace physically.
Blessing of the Backpacks is scheduled for August 20. We have a blessing at both services, and no, you do not need to attend both services. Children and teachers may bring their school bags to their service, but it’s not required. God’s blessings know no walls, and they will reach their intended place!
Hopefully, by the beginning of next week, I will have a schedule with sign-up slots for the fall up to Christmas. I will take on the duties of leading on August 13 and 20, and after that, we need to rotate leaders through the rest of the adults. Two leaders are needed for each Sunday. The materials are available to them the previous week so they can prepare. I can help, encourage, and handle crowd control during Sunday school as needed.
We are using the same Holy Moly curriculum from last year, finishing up a few lessons from Year 1, Unit 3, and then moving on to Year 2, Unit 1.
Here is what the flow of each lesson should resemble:
- Gathering/snack
- Video (across the hall)
- Continuation of lesson
- Craft/activity
