In October, we started a new confirmation class. All young people eighth grade and older, who were not already members of Grace, were invited to join the class. We have seven teenagers in the class, and they represent seven different schools: Brooks Middle, Robinson Middle, Berean Academy, Southeast High, East High, North High, and Circle High.
Kirk Anderson is the primary leader for the class, and Catherine Neelly Burton assists. We’re grateful for other adults who jump in to teach and help.
This year we’re using the PCUSA curriculum, Big God – Big Questions. This fall we explored these questions:
- How do we know and trust God?
- What is sin and how do we turn from it?
- Who is your Lord?
- Who is your savior?
We finished 2019 with a mission morning. On December 7, we served at the Giving the Basics Warehouse. Giving the Basics provides USD259 and Wichita non-profits with basic hygiene items. We sorted, bagged, and boxed shampoo. We catalogued soap and deodorant. The group was focused and enthusiastic about the project.
This winter we begin visiting other worshiping communities, and we continue with our big questions. Please pray for all who are part of this class.
